CROSSING LINES

Hello folks!

On today's toujoursAnja menu we have something brand new for you to see.
I'd like to introduce you to a young, but very promising platform - Cross The Line. It is basically a designer platform that gathers up talented designers from different countries (Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore), but also a place where you can inspire yourself on a monthly basis.

The whole concept and design of the site scream minimalism (do I really mention it in every post?).
Chez Cross The Line October is (soon to be was) in spirit of black and white. We have all been witnesses of the all white trend that ruled summer scenes, and also it found its way to spring 2015 runways. White is here to stay. And black is just something that will never go out of style.

I'm showing you designers that really caught my eye. Not all of them have their collections up on the site, but here are my favorites so far. Don't hesitate to check the rest of them!

112 mountainyam

Found in 2011 by Mountain Yam. When I first saw his S/S 2014 Collection, Alexander Wang popped in my mind. All of his clothing had a sporty chic vibe. But his Fall/Winter Collection tells the whole other story. Shape and materials have the main role. This collection tells a story about the woman who is redefining and rediscovering herself.

BLIND by JW

Found in 2012 by two designers Jessica and Walter who graduated Central Saint Martins Art and Design College from London and Polytechnic University from Hong Kong. It is a label that mixes East and West influences, creating beautiful and romantic pieces with the biggest accent on hand down prints, color block and material mixing. And they presented their S/S 2015 Collection!

SKETCHAROUND

Found in 2013 by two designers from Hong Kong. They're focused on purity of form and iconography. Their unisex garments provide you something relaxed, yet really chic and distinctive. It's modern, it's minimal, it's timeless. And last, but not least - very wearable!

FASHION FREEZE

3:10 AM toujoursAnja 4 Comments

Good morning, Tuesday!
Please let us have some sunshine on these pretty cold days.

The thing is, temperatures caught us by surprise and went down so quickly; one day it was spring, the next day winter (personal feel: bone-freezing winter). I'm a type of person who loves winter so much, yet complains how freezing it is all the time . And on that cold days, my fashion sense vanishes sometimes and all that I want is to cover myself with as many layers as possible (and a couple of blankets). Such a fashionista, right?

To get out of my winter comfort zone, which is wearing my all black uniform, is a hard thing for me to do. Every year I decide to brighten up my wardrobe with some colors; this year I'm deciding to give up on that thought and embrace my uniform with some modifications.

Inspiration for that task I found in these beautiful shots from Russia, that is street style from Moscow Fashion Week. Now it's obvious that you can look good and feel good warm.
At least I hope that these people weren't cold...

NORMCORE

It's a love-hate thing with normcore...

It's on this season again and I don't know whether I'm happy or not. On one hand, it gives us comfort we've all been missing while wearing our super-skinny-slim-fits and so-tight-you-must-not-be-bloated tops. On the other, well... we're kinda loosing our fashion sense and slipping into normal clothes. I, myself, am a huge fan of oversized, I practically live in oversized chunky knits during winter, but silhouette is still very important to me. The list of pro's and con's is so long.

Here is what I'm offering: normcore ideas that don't have too much of a grandpa vibe. My advice is - embrace the trend, but don't hide behind it. Embrace it as a trend, not as a lifestyle.

Now go and tell me what you think about it!

MATICEVSKI

I wasn't familiar with the name 'Maticevski' until few months ago. While going through many street style photographs from last season's Sydney Fashion Week, I spotted some pretty interesting creations worn by some very influential women from fashion industry. They all had in common one name: Toni Maticevski.

After that, I got distracted and forgot to check on his work. The other time this designer's name popped my screen was when I saw his top as one of Motilo Edit items. I used it in my look and again... I forgot about it.

The third (and lucky) time I actually came in contact with Maticevski was couple of days ago. I saw his Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection. And you can imagine how excited I was. Not only have I remembered the name, no; I actually liked his whole collection and way of designing: he easily plays with forms, yet knows how to emphasize the female silhouette. He chooses a bit different materials and puts them together, making his creations rich in form and minimal in patterns. Chez Maticevski, form is everything.

His new collection is described as sculptural, architectural, something that can be worn both with sneakers and highest-of-them-all heels. My mind was (is) blown. I would wear it. Immediately.

“I LOVE SEEING A WOMAN WALK PAST ME DRESSED IN ONE OF MY PIECES, I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK THEY ARE THE MOST ATTRACTIVE AND ALLURING IN THE ROOM… BIASED BUT TRUE”

WANTS AND NEEDS

3:36 AM toujoursAnja 4 Comments

While waiting for temperatures to drop down, I must admit that I actually love fall. Even though I hate when I'm cold (which is 90% of time), I enjoy playing with clothes in the fall. It's cold enough to layer and warm enough to show your layers - a perfect combination. This indian summer that we're having is so boring!

And so for this fall I can't wait to wear...

Camel.
Probably the most sophisticated color when it comes to coats (besides black). It looks the best paired with black, white, grey or even another shade of camel. It makes everything look slightly more expensive.

Animals.
It can be tricky to wear, but I've been loving animal prints for quite some time. I would wear it all: tigers, leopards... even Bambi! Put your favorite animal on and you don't have to worry about the rest of the outfit.

(All) Black.
This is my uniform. Every fall/winter I try not to wear all black and switch to some colors, but it's not functioning. I love black, I feel good in black, black is everything to me! To avoid monotony play with forms, materials and textures. Fun is guaranteed.
